What is a featured snippet?

Also: Position zero, answer box

A featured snippet is the extract Google shows at the top of results, taken from a page that answers the question, often as a paragraph, list or table. It was the model for answer-first writing and a precursor of AI Overviews. A page can win a snippet and still not be named in AI answers.

How it relates to AI answers

The craft is the same: a clear question heading with a direct answer. But snippets and AI answers choose sources separately, so check both.

Example: a query like "what is a canonical URL" shows a two-sentence paragraph from one page above the normal results.

Does Nodpick track snippets?

No. Nodpick does not track featured snippets; it measures AI assistants and Google's AI answers.
