Audit your site for AI readiness from your assistant

Nodpick's free, read-only MCP server lets Claude, Cursor, VS Code or ChatGPT audit a website for AI readiness, check which AI crawlers can reach it and hand back copy-paste fixes for your stack. No account, no install.

Endpoint

https://nodpick.com/mcp

Connect it in one step

Pick your client. The server needs no key; every snippet below works as it is.

Run this in your terminal. Add --scope user to make it available in all projects, or --scope project to share it with your team through .mcp.json. Check the connection with claude mcp list or /mcp.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http nodpick https://nodpick.com/mcp

With an API key

A personal API key adds two tools for your own tracked brands. It does not change the audit limits below. Send it as a bearer header.

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http nodpick https://nodpick.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer npk_your_key"
VS Code
{
  "inputs": [
    { "type": "promptString", "id": "nodpick-key", "description": "Nodpick API key", "password": true }
  ],
  "servers": {
    "nodpick": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://nodpick.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${input:nodpick-key}" }
    }
  }
}

The tools

Five tools work for everyone. Two more appear when you connect with an API key. All of them are read-only.

  • audit_ai_readiness

    What it returns:A 0 to 100 score, weighted checks with status and evidence grade, up to 5 top fixes ranked by points gained, and a next step. Deterministic, cached for 24 hours.

    Inputs:url (required), framework (optional)

  • check_ai_crawlers

    What it returns:Per bot (OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, Google, Apple): purpose, the robots.txt decision and, for the three AI search bots, an HTTP test that reveals firewall blocks.

    Inputs:url (required)

  • check_llms_txt

    What it returns:Whether /llms.txt exists and follows the format (title, summary, sections, links), an honest note on the evidence, and a starter template when it is missing.

    Inputs:url (required)

  • get_fix_snippet

    What it returns:Deterministic copy-paste code for one audit check on one stack. No network access.

    Inputs:check (required), framework (optional)

  • get_free_visibility_check_link

    What it returns:A link to the free visibility check, which asks AI assistants whether they name the brand. The audit only measures technical readiness.

    Inputs:domain (required), country, language (optional)

  • list_projectsAPI key

    What it returns:The brands tracked in your account (id, brand, domain).

    Inputs:none

  • get_action_planAPI key

    What it returns:The ranked action plan of one tracked brand: evidence, steps, a fix snippet where it is a code change, acceptance criteria and a ready prompt per item.

    Inputs:project_id (required), framework, lang (optional)

check is one of crawler_access, training_crawlers, raw_html_content, indexability, metadata, structured_data, freshness, agent_extras. framework is one of nextjs, astro, wordpress, static, spa, nginx, apache, other; leave it out and the audit detects the stack.

An example run

Ask your assistant, for example: "Audit example.com for AI readiness and fix the most important issue." It typically calls the tools in this order.

  1. audit_ai_readiness
    { "url": "https://example.com", "framework": "nextjs" }
    -> score 0-100, weighted checks, top fixes with fix.snippetId
  2. get_fix_snippet
    { "check": "crawler_access", "framework": "nextjs" }
    -> copy-paste code for that check on that stack
  3. get_free_visibility_check_link
    { "domain": "example.com", "country": "DE", "language": "en" }
    -> https://nodpick.com/check?domain=example.com&ref=mcp&country=DE&language=en

The audit shows whether AI crawlers can read your site. Whether assistants actually name your brand is a different question, and the free visibility check answers it.

Prompts to try

Copy one into your assistant once the server is connected. Replace example.com with your site.

  • Audit and first fix

    Audit https://example.com for AI readiness. The site runs on Next.js. List the three fixes that gain the most points and give me the code for the first one.

    audit_ai_readinessget_fix_snippet

  • Can AI crawlers get in?

    Check whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google's crawlers may fetch https://example.com/pricing, and tell me which robots.txt rule blocks any of them.

    check_ai_crawlers

  • llms.txt

    Does https://example.com have a valid llms.txt? If not, draft one for my site from the starter template.

    check_llms_txt

  • Fix it in this repo

    Audit https://example.com, then apply the fix for the check that gains the most points directly in this codebase (framework: astro).

    audit_ai_readinessget_fix_snippet

  • After a robots.txt change

    I just changed robots.txt on https://example.com. Check it again and tell me whether any AI search crawler lost access.

    check_ai_crawlers

  • Do assistants name my brand?

    Give me the free visibility check link for example.com in Germany, in English.

    get_free_visibility_check_link

  • My action planAPI key

    List my tracked brands and show the action plan for the first one, starting with the highest-priority step.

    list_projectsget_action_plan

Limits and access

  • Anonymous use is the default. Limits apply per client address: 20 audits per hour, 10 audits per hour for the same site, 200 tool calls per hour in total. Repeat requests for a page audited in the last 24 hours come from the cache and cost no audit slot.
  • The audit fetches up to 5 public URLs of the site (page, robots.txt, sitemap, llms.txt) and nothing behind a login.
  • An API key does not raise these limits. It needs a paid Nodpick plan, unlocks the tools for your tracked brands and allows 60 requests per minute per key. Create one in your account settings.

Prefer plain HTTP? The same checks are available as a REST API with an OpenAPI description. OpenAPI file

What is stored

Audit results for public pages are cached for 24 hours. We keep daily counters per tool and channel, without addresses or URLs. For rate limiting we keep a salted hash of the client address with a timestamp. The server sets and reads no cookies and has no sessions.

Official registry

The server is listed in the official MCP registry as com.nodpick/ai-readiness. Directories that mirror the registry point here.

Common questions

What is the Nodpick MCP server?

It is a remote Model Context Protocol server at https://nodpick.com/mcp. Connected to an AI assistant, it lets the assistant audit a website for AI readiness, check AI crawler access and the llms.txt file, and fetch copy-paste fixes for a given stack.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, and no. The five public tools work without an account or key, within the limits above.

Does it change anything on my site?

No. All tools are read-only. The audit only fetches public pages of the site you name, and you apply the fixes yourself.

Which clients work?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP, including Claude Code, Claude.ai and Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code and ChatGPT. The install section shows the setup for each.

What is the difference between the audit and the free visibility check?

The audit is deterministic and measures technical readiness: crawler access, rendered content, metadata, structured data. The free visibility check asks AI assistants real questions and shows whether they name your brand.

Can I use it in CI or scripts?

Use the REST API, which shares the same service and limits. The OpenAPI file describes the endpoints.

Which data is stored?

Cached audit results for 24 hours, daily usage counters without addresses or URLs and a salted hash of the client address for rate limiting. No cookies, no sessions.

Do assistants actually name your brand?

The audit tells you whether your site is readable. The free visibility check asks the assistants themselves.
