What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed convention: a plain Markdown file at the root of a website that summarizes the site and links to its key pages for AI systems. It is not an enforced standard, and independent studies have found no clear link between having one and being cited more often.
What goes in it
A title, a one-sentence description of what you are, for whom and where, and a short list of links to your most useful pages, such as pricing, product and comparison pages. Keep the facts identical to those on your site.
Should you bother?
It costs little to publish and is harmless, but the benefit is unproven. Treat it as hygiene, not as a growth lever, and spend most of your effort on content and third-party presence.
