What is MCP?

Also: Model Context Protocol

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard, introduced by Anthropic in 2024, that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and data sources in one uniform way. A service that offers an MCP server can be used by compatible assistants and coding agents without custom integration for each.

Why does it matter for brands?

More tasks move from search to agents that call tools. A product with an MCP server or a clean API can be used inside an assistant, which is a distribution channel beyond search.

Example: a coding agent calls a service's MCP server to run an audit and gets structured results without a custom integration.

Does Nodpick have one?

Yes. Nodpick offers an MCP server and a REST API for its free AI-readiness audit. Details are in the agent docs.
