What is sampling variance in AI answers?
Sampling variance is the natural difference between answers when the same question is asked several times. Language models choose words with some randomness, and retrieval can return different pages. One answer is therefore a single sample, not the truth, and a score based on one run can mislead.
How to deal with it
Ask each question repeatedly and across several days, then look at the average and the spread. A brand that appears in nine of ten answers is stable; one that appears in three of ten is fragile.
Example: the same question asked five times on one day names your brand in three of the five answers.
How does Nodpick handle it?
Nodpick repeats questions every week and attaches a 95 % range to every score, so normal swing is visible. When a mention flips, the question is asked again and both answers count. Run the free AI visibility check to see your own numbers; the method shows how they are made, and pricing lists the plans.
