A brand mention in AI search is any time an assistant names your brand in an answer, whether or not it links to you. Mentions show whether assistants consider you relevant for a question. Tracking where you are mentioned, and in what position, is the basis of AI visibility.
What counts as a mention
A mention is your brand name, an alias or your domain appearing in the answer text. Position matters: the first brand named is usually the strongest recommendation.
Mentions and sources
Assistants often name brands that appear on lists, reviews and directories. Improving your mentions therefore often means improving your presence on those third-party pages.
