What is Listicle?

Also: Best-of list, roundup

A listicle is an article built around a list, such as "best CRM tools for small teams". AI assistants often cite such lists when asked for recommendations. Being included on credible third-party lists can raise your visibility, while self-published lists are discounted by readers and may be by assistants.

Why they matter

When someone asks an assistant for the best option in a category, the assistant often retrieves list articles to build its shortlist. Being on those pages is one of the more direct routes into the answer.

Do it honestly

Independent studies suggest that self-promotional lists are cited less often than other sources. If you publish your own list, disclose that you are the publisher, state your criteria and be fair to competitors.
