What is prompt volume?
Prompt volume is an estimate of how often people ask an AI assistant a given question. Unlike Google search volume, no assistant publishes it. Any number you see comes from panels, browser data or modelling, so treat it as a rough ranking of topics, not as a count.
Why is it hard to get?
Google Keyword Planner and Search Console report searches. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Perplexity do not publish how often a question is asked in their assistants. Questions are also long and phrased in many ways, so one need is spread across thousands of wordings.
Example: a keyword tool may rank "CRM for agencies" as a bigger topic than "CRM for dental practices", but neither number tells you how often assistants were actually asked.
What to do instead
Pick questions from real buyer conversations: sales calls, support tickets, forum threads, and the follow-up questions assistants themselves suggest. Track a fixed set and watch the trend, as described in prompt tracking.
How does Nodpick treat it?
Nodpick does not show prompt-volume numbers. You choose the buyer questions, and every score comes from the answers to exactly those questions. Run the free AI visibility check to see your own numbers; the method shows how they are made, and pricing lists the plans.
