What is topical authority?
Topical authority is the idea that a site which covers one subject thoroughly, with linked pages for each sub-question, is trusted more on that subject. It is an SEO concept, not a metric any search engine or AI provider publishes. For GEO it means covering the questions buyers ask, with consistent facts across pages.
How to build it
Map the questions in your category, answer each on its own page, link related pages together and keep the facts identical across them. Depth and consistency matter more than volume.
Example: a payroll software site that answers 40 payroll questions on linked pages looks more complete on the topic than a site with one payroll landing page.
What is not proven
No provider has confirmed a topical authority score. Treat it as a planning framework and check the effect with prompt tracking rather than assuming it.
Check it for your brand
Nodpick shows which of your buyer questions already name you and which do not, so you know which topic to cover next. Run the free AI visibility check to see your own numbers; the method shows how they are made, and pricing lists the plans.
