What is AI Overviews?
AI Overviews are generated summaries that Google Search shows at the top of some results pages, with links to the sources used. They answer a query directly, so users may read the summary instead of clicking. Appearing as a cited source is the main visibility goal.
How they relate to other assistants
AI Overviews are part of Google Search, while ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude are separate assistants with their own retrieval and writing. A brand can be visible in one and absent from another, so each should be measured separately.
How to measure them
In paid plans, Nodpick reads a logged-out Google search in your country and language, records whether your brand is named in the AI Overview or AI Mode answer and where your domain ranks organically, and can import real Google AI impressions from a Search Console export. Google shows an AI Overview only for some queries, so questions without one are left out of the score.
What to do
Keep your pages crawlable by Google, answer questions plainly and early, and keep structured data accurate. Google Search Console reports on search performance. Measuring how often assistants and AI Overviews name your brand needs a tracker.
